History
From a technical institute to a full technological university — tracing the growth and milestones of TU (Kyaukse).
Technological University (Kyaukse), KTU was established in 1998 as Government Technical Institute. It was reformed as Government Technological College in 2001. It was upgraded to Technological University in 2007.
The University has been fully funded by the Government since it was founded. It was moderated by the Ministry of Science and Technology until 2016, operated under the Ministry of Education from 2016 to 2021, and has been under the Ministry of Science and Technology since 2021.

1998
Established as GTI
The University was established in December 1998 as Government Technical Institute (GTI).
2001
Reformed to GTC
In January 2001, GTI was reformed to Government Technological College (GTC).
2007
Upgraded to Technological University
GTC was upgraded to Technological University on 20 January 2007.
2016
ISO 9001 Certification & Ministry Transfer
Quality Management System was implemented according to ISO 9001. The university received ISO 9001:2008 Certificate for Provision of Undergraduate Engineering Education and Training Services. The university was transferred from the Ministry of Science and Technology to the Ministry of Education.
2018
Engineering Accreditation
Bachelor of Engineering Programs from Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Material Science and Metallurgical Engineering and Information Technology achieved provisional accreditation from Engineering Education Accreditation Committee, Myanmar Engineering Council.
2019
AUN-QA Associate Membership
In October 2019, the University became the ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Associate Member.
2021
Return to Ministry of Science and Technology
The university has been operating under the Ministry of Science and Technology since 2021.
2022
ISO 9001:2015 Re-Certification
ISO 9001:2015 (Re-Certification) for Provision of Undergraduate Engineering Education and Training Services was awarded on 9 February 2022.
2023
AUN-QA Community Project
TU (Kyaukse) got the opportunity to participate in AUN-QA Community Project (2023-2027), aimed at aligning universities in Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar with AUN-QA Framework and Outcome-Based Education.
